Hen Gyfarwyddiadau Cymreig – Old Welsh Recipes

Croeso

Welcome to my website. I have recently started to move the recipes from my old webpage www.greenfrogblog/barabrith.  I have deceided to publish a couple of  old Welsh recipe book that has been in my family’s possession for years.

I don’t wish to infringe anybody’s copyright but they are  so brilliant I want to share them.

The first is bi-linuagal (Welsh and English) and I confess I have only used the English recipes, although I would like to use both. I can’t find a date for the book but I believe it is probably from the 1920’s or 1930’s. It was printed by D Caradog Evans of Pwllheli and collected by the Caernarvonshire Federation of Women’s Institutes. If my guess for the date is correct, it would be reasonable to assume that the recipes are 18th and 19th century. The read all these recipes click on the ‘Hen Gyfarwyddiadau Cymreig – Old Welsh Recipes’ category down the side of the page.

You can add the welsh recipe of the day gizmo to your site by cutting and pasting using the following html code

<iframe src=http://www.barabrith.org.uk/gfb_random/random_post.php height=300 width=160 scrolling=no frameborder=no></iframe>

I have another  welsh language cookery books, which I hope to put on so please bookmark my page and come back if you like them.  I am currently adding entries from a 1906 household manual called ‘ Llyfr Cogino A Chacw Ty’ published by Hughes & Son of Wrexham.

I hope you enjoy my entries from these book and forgive any typos due to my not being a  fluent Welsh speaker. If you would like to leave comments, either in English or Welsh, please feel free.
